Saudi Arabia Police imprisoned a woman who defied the kingdom’s strict dress code and also walking around in the city in a mini skirt. Because of the video spreads over on social media, which sparked public outrage.
According to the Riyadh police statement as “the viral videos were published by an account attributed to her without her knowledge.” As per the country’s conservative Islamic dress code, wearing “immodest clothes” is against, state media reported Tuesday.
Initially, a video which viral on Snapchat and then to other social media. The video shows that the woman (whose name was not given which detained by Riyadh police) walking around a historic fort of Ushayqi in a miniskirt but no others around in the video. In a desert region of the Najd, the short video was taken, where the place is owned by the conservative tribe and families of many Saudi Arabians. Also, another video which followed with her sitting in the same desert.
As per the Islamic law, women are expected to wear loose-fitting clothing which called as an abaya. Also, the Saudi Arabia women need to cover their hair.
The Twitter has filled with the hashtags that called for her arrest. Some of the tweets read against this girl who flagrantly disobeyed Saudi rules. Also mentioned as all women in the kingdom should follow the Islamic rules to wear long and loose fitting robes in public. Including foreigners should follow the same in the country, who all the women also need to wear a headscarf.
