Martin Klizan entered into the Wimbledon in 2011 and played in the first round qualifier against Igor Sijsling. On later years, he appeared on the second round (2012) and first round (in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016). Recently at the French Open, he won his first round by defeating Laurent Lokoli but, lost his game against to world No. 1 Andy Murray.
On this Tuesday, July 4, he will meet the world No. 4 Novak Djokovic in the first round. Early in 2012, Novak Djokovic managed to reach the final of US Open and played against Stanislas Wawrinka. He won the game over Wawrinka with the score of 6-6-3 against 4-1-1r. Wawrinka retired due to injury. Last year in 2016, he won the title of French Open and Australian Open. But, can’t able to win in this year. Since 2007, it is the first time that he can’t able to reach the quarterfinals at the Australian Open. He lost his game over the world no. 117 Denis Istomin. It is the first time that he had lost to a player ranked outside of the top 100.
Also, in French Open, he lost his game at quarterfinals against to Dominic Thiem. Before the next grand slam tournament of Wimbledon, Djokovic was forced to play his first grass court tournament outside Wimbledon since 2010 Aegon Championships. He won this recent tournament against Gaël Monfils in the final match. Before the 2017 French Open, he introduced his new coach, Andre Agassi.
On the most recent interview with his Eastbourne stint by Djokovic, “Obviously I was not playing too many of the events in the week prior to the beginning of the Grand Slam in my career, but I decided to do so this time because I felt like I needed more matches in general. Especially on the grass, which is a unique surface that requires time for adaptation and adjustment, especially for the movement,” as quoted by ATP’s official website.
Also, he added that “I felt like this time I needed a proper tournament rather than just playing a couple of exhibition matches. I’m glad I’ve made that decision, and that I went to Eastbourne, because it was a very positive experience on and off the court as well. The people were very kind. It was a great week with a lot of good, positive energy.”
Early, he won three Wimbledon titles in the years of 2011, 2014, 2015. His first round opponent of this 2017 Wimbledon, Klizan losing all their three previous meetings. He didn’t made any big titles or news yet.
Djokovic vs Klizan is the second match on Centre Court and the first match of the day will begin at 1 pm BST.
