In India, Aadhaar is very important for every citizen and also, the government had several steps to improve and adding the importance of Aadhaar. In this way, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched the mAadhaar smartphone app for Android. So, the Indian people can store their Aadhaar information and they can carry anywhere. This new app by UIDAI has launched to the public on 17th July 2017, now the app is available on Google Play Store as a free download.
In this new mAadhaar app contains various features, anybody can carry their demographic information such as Name, Date of Birth, Gender and Address along with the photograph as in the card along with the Aadhaar number.
It is a small application which had 10.80 MB size and it has some basic features supported by mAadhaar include biometric locking/unlocking, Sharing of QR code, Time-based One-Time Password generation, and eKYC data along with Aadhaar profile download.
By using the Biometric locking/unlocking, users can secure biometric authentication by locking biometrics data.
Time-based One Time Password is an automatically generated password which is temporary and it can be used instead of SMS based OTP. UIDAI has also confirmed in its announcement on a tweet.
- Aadhaar registered mobile number is needed to use the mAadhaar app.
- In case, your mobile number is not registered with Aadhaar, can visit the nearest Enrolment Centre/Mobile Update End Point to get your mobile number registered.
- The user will need Android 4.4 and upwards preinstalled to use the mAadhaar app on your phone.
Steps to follow while downloading
Download the mAadhaar app and setup a unique password. Then, enter the 12-digit Aadhaar number.

One-Time-Password (OTP) will send to the registered mobile number as an SMS for verification. You can’t able to enter the OTP as manual, it will work only if your handset has the registered number (SIM).
