In the Saudi high-speed train system, the Haramain Express Train reaches Jeddah station after some operational test. While the train arrived on a pilot trip from King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC).
The chairman of the Public Transport Authority (PTA), Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih said “The Railway Corporation seeks to play its role in realizing Vision 2030 by harnessing its energies to serve pilgrims and guests through the Haramain train project, linking Makkah and Madinah through Jeddah, King Abdul Aziz International Airport and KAEC in Rabigh.” He is also the acting head of the Saudi Railways Organization (SRO).
He added that the full railway process will be fully operated before the new year 2018. While in the last December, Bassam bin Ahmed Ghulman (Haramain High-Speed Rail Project Director) had said that it is the largest transportation project in the Middle East and it will be one of the largest public transportation in the world. Through 35 trains, totally 60 million passengers can serve annually over 450 km by using this electric railway.

According to the world’s largest public transport project’s cost, it is estimated around SR62 billion ($16.5 billion). For this project, officials need to demolishing some mountains which cost more.
